Not that scary, given how undervalued tech employees seem to be in Japan versus the Anglosphere. (Taxes on the other hand sound like they'd be hell.) You seem happy with the impact you're able to have on people via your work, though, and that can be hard to come by.

I don't consider that terribly reasonable either, especially not in the face of known collusion on the buying side of the labor market.

But I also have some sympathy for how trying to do the utmost for your client as the lawyer drafting the contract can lead creating very one-sided contracts.
