@tewha It’s like reading tea leaves, only with coffee grounds. (Explains so much about frontend code in Rails projects.)

@streakmachine seL4.systems is on my “play with” list. (One of these years. Embedded is pretty far from where I work.)

@matigo Uh. OK. “Adding a ‘Load Images: No’ setting to my client is SO HARD. Let’s just ban ‘em.” ?
ETA: My main not-programmery stuff winds up being mostly visual. I’m used to the annoyance images-just-for-OP causes on Reddit. It really limits discussion. :(
It’s frustrating to see drastic technical means employed to not-really-solve-just-make-less-visible what’s really a social problem. And they have a staffed community manager, so not sure why “ixnay on the imageay acromay” finger shaking a few times wouldn’t suffice. But I do know very well what omitting first-class images in replies costs.

Posting to 10C now is like, hit Post, wait for it, wait for it, a little bit longer…OK, the server returned success at last.
Thank goodness it’s not 400/500ing after that.
@matigo Yay, they’ve reproduced my least favorite Reddit misfeature. It makes sharing something visual as a community a total PITA.

@matigo Zoom is not too bad. There are way too many options in that space though. (Maybe it’s because each one gets cranky now and again and you have to switch systems mid-meeting.)

@JeremyCherfas Yeah. I was thinking about that. It’s a subtle distinction, and might only be in my head. I see cargo-culting as both misunderstanding and misapplying, while faith-based as doing it right (pro forma) but not understanding why or when to conclude it’s not useful. So on the whole, I think I’m coming around to your point of view.
/@matigo
@matigo Presumably those are all known and can’t be resolved fast enough to have the discussion when it needs to happen. So, escape hatch.
