@jws I also couldn't hide from my kids that I can speak English, so even if I tried to drive them to use a different language just with me, I expect they'd call me on it after a while.

I sometimes wonder if it's also some weird wiring; even my English tends to be a bit different from the people around me, and I sometimes find myself having people repeat stuff a few times before I parse it correctly. In my native language. ??♀

@jextxadore We're pretty much straight-up English speaking here. What's up for grabs is how Jay-oh-jee-an he ends up sounding, growing up here in the South. And whether he picks up my i/e merger or what, though I doubt it.
