@matigo First Amendment protects citizen freedom of speech in face of government, not private, action. Especially in the context of the erosion of unions and the spread of "at-will" employment, employees are basically pawns.
@phoneboy Yes. Feels like people are picking nearby hot buttons/hobby horses and riding those rather than responding to the main points raised in the original article. (The article could have done better to avoid the beside the point bits guaranteed to draw fire in the first place, of course.)

@gtwilson A lot of secularism seems to make sense as if you just toss a dropcloth over the whole God thing but otherwise carry on as business as usual. And people are good at making their own gods - and sacrificing others to them.

@gtwilson I actually wonder if there was ever a time where politics of one flavor or another wasn't ascendant. Seems typically human. If we pulled off the Copernican revolution under even more stifling circumstances, I think innovation is safe.

@matigo We get maybe 120 in that time, but we also aren't in a studio. It's a lot easier to get good photos when you're doing cool stuff out in the world.
