They don't really want them filled. They need to look like they want them filled. Then show they can't. Then use that to get a work visa.

Alternatively, they don't want it filled via the front door (job listing). But if you know the right people, or are known of by them and ask, you can get the job.

Woo, up 50%, great work. Do it again tomorrow.

Whoa, that was the animated link directly! Nice. :)

Ed is the standard editor.

Yes. I recall having some problems with it. I think maybe due to bootstrap namespace issues I've since worked around, so might be time for another go.

You might like Spacemacs.

I do that now and again. Funny in chat.

Emacs launches kinda slow. And not sure any session restore is up to the task. And would just make it slower, too. The OS comparison is good - your laptop would not be fun if you shut it down every thirty seconds and rebooted it. ;)

I have the vimmer's bad habit of repeatedly exiting and launching my editor. Emacs hates me for that.

??

@kdfrawg I was talking of consumer software.

Medical and aerospace software is regulated, but the regulations are crap when it comes to security, which goes a long way to erode their primary concern of safety.

Banking: As long as people clutch their checkbook for dear life, they're a weak link in their own bank account security. IIRC current hopes put US checking as dead maybe in 2030. Maybe. Don't hold your breath.

There is a lot of work going into trying to fix this. Vanishingly little has seen industry adoption. The money mostly isn't there. (Microsoft and Amazon and similar have made some steps, but you'll note they have bags of money and scads of customers to start with.)
