Hah, yeah, those advantages definitely don't catch the impression I got from talking with my brother. He had some seriously annoying government management on one of the projects he worked. Lots of head-desking, rando paperwork, and happy-fun-pointless-neverending conference calls.

Now he's in industry and still has some weird corporate rules to deal with (like needing to get himself enrolled as a "software developer" in their internal system so his laptop would actually let him run the software he needs to do his work…).

I just can't understand why no-one has punned on "S8/sate" yet. "S8 your new phone lust!"

@kdfrawg The baked-in browser support should work, though. I just tried Cmd-= to enlarge and Cmd-- to shrink, and it worked a charm.

(Also: Whoah, italic emoji in the "In Reply To" text. That is funky!)

Super useful. mosh is also fun as an alternative to ssh, if you're connecting from a laptop or mobile device.

@japchap "Are customers really that fickle?" Yes. As a general rule, any PR snafus blow over pretty fast. If there's something for sale, we'll keep buying it, because whatever the incident was quickly falls out of mind. (I'd link you to a fun article about that that came out following the United PRmageddon, but can't recall where I found it or any distinctive phrase, alas.)

@kdfrawg Nothing at the system text rendering level alas. Slack and iMessage both show a message comprising only emoji by rendering the emoji at like ten times normal size: jumbomoji. If mixed with other text, though, they show as normal size.

@kdfrawg That's basically where I am. We use a credit card as a way to skim reward dollars off for purchases we'd make anyway, as well as a way to demonstrate good credit should we need to move house at some point. It's automatically paid off in full each month.

@schiffey That's a scheme-relative URL. Very handy to avoid mixed content. Works for hrefs throughout HTML.

/

@kdfrawg Huh. New reason to favor jumbomoji in messaging.

Where'd you place that wager?
