@larand FW (very little) IW, Markdown as originally defined was just an HTML shorthand that allowed freely mixing in HTML tags as needed or desired. But the same needs that drove BBCode to be basically a neutered HTML led to conveniently limiting that feature of Markdown as it spread into the same niches. :\
@matigo Thanks! Made it back safely Friday. Out again Monday and then the same crazy return flight next Friday, then I get to stay put. 2-week project kick-off in California is jetlagtastic. ?
@matigo I can confirm that all reading about SQL and its implementations got a bit cheerier once I started reading it as “squeal”.
@matigo I’ve seen so many disparate uses of Tumblr that that doesn’t give me a clear picture. How do you see Tumblr used?
Lol at zones. It’s now: Pre-boarding (carseats and wheelchairs), premium (first class), sky priority, and then finally zone “1”. So zone 1 is basically zone 4 at this point. They just keep tacking new “line-jumper” zones in there. ?
@js The immediate answer is “because that’s how 10C Markdown decided to HTMLify it.” That punts the question to @matigo.
For myself, I’ve gone back and forth on including punctuation in writing where I control the markup. I’ve always included punctuation in italics and bold to avoid weird sudden effectively intra-word face/weight change. It makes sense to do similar for link markup as well, but then it may read weird if you’re just surfing links. I should just test that last concern using VoiceOver and the Links rotor option one of these days though, so I can know rather than continue worrying unnecessarily.
Perhaps @larand can weigh in with Chicago Manual of Style’s opinions. :)
