It feels a lot snappier, especially grabbing global and threads.

Archive, but, yup.

Going to zero out all my email by fiat tomorrow, because I feel like it. Considering similar for RSS.

@japchap Ah, neat trick with the temporary calendar. I've been getting junk iMessages a bit lately. At least iOS 10 has a "report as spam and nuke it" button now. :\

@japchap I'm in suburban density in an intown neighborhood. Taxes are fairly low in Atlanta proper and are levied against only 40% of the assessed value of the property. And county assessments are pretty conservative vs Zillow's estimates, which track closer to actual market value IME.

The rental market OTOH is bonkers, with tons of new construction of apartments and townhomes to take advantage of the great prices available if you're the one doing the letting.

//

@japchap How'd you ditch it in the end?

@japchap Yes, I am still ahead. Figuring that out weighed into the decision to purchase a house as well as where - taxes a few blocks from me would be double my city's. Pulled tax records as a matter of course when evaluating properties to factor that into cost of ownership.

//

@japchap I pay less for my house than I would for a comparable rental. Rental market is nuts where I am right now, and has been for a few years now.

At that point, I worry the names become a confusing indirection for what you're doing. I imagine just popping the hood on an account and tweaking what you see from them: mentions of me on, other posts off, posts mentioning them on. You could review those mods later and edit them, alongside any content-based post gagging that might be added, too.

Makes sense to me. But I mostly rely on selective following rather than muting/silencing, so I don't have a horse in the race. (And here, I just read Global.)
